So you have a busy life, and don't have enough time to do everything that you need to do. Well to get more done you have to be awake. This article shows you how to stay up for up to three days straight. (The record is 264 hours, 11 days and nights, but don't get any ideas! And think about it, would you really want to be sleeping for a week afterwards?)
First, you should sleep. To stay up for an extended period, you need to be well rested. Try to sleep for about twelve to fourteen hours. The longer you sleep the longer you can stay up.
Don't have too much caffeine as soon as you wake up, because it will be less effective later. Instead try an apple, a pear, an orange, or any other fruit.
Keep in motion (work out, run around, or play with the dog). After you've been up 18 to 20 hours, you can try some caffeine (coffee, caffeinated soda, or chocolate). The caffeine will keep you awake and alert, and working out gets your blood pumping.
Repeat step 3 as needed.
Tips
- Have fun, stay focused, keep active, and you won't think about going to sleep.
- Drink plenty of water. If your body is slightly dehydrated, you can get tired more quickly.
- It's a lot easier and more fun to stay up with a friend.
- Eat high energy foods, such as: Bananas, Watermelon, Carrots, Potatoes, and starchy foods, such as bread, pizza, noodles, cereal, etc.
- Remember, caffeine controls your energy usage to make you more alert, but you need the energy for it to control in the first place for it to be effective, so eat high energy foods as mentioned above. And drink LOTS of water!
- Light is a very important key to staying awake. Stay in a brightly lit room. If it's past sunrise, take walks outside.
- WATCH THE SUNRISE! This really gets your brain synchronized for the new day. This puts your brain in "day" mode, and you should feel less tired afterward.
- Don't eat sugary foods as you will be awake for a while but later you will be tired. Try eating such foods as bread or crackers.
- when you feel like you can't stay up any longer get up and put some water your face and stay away from TV, pc monitor( if the work does not require you) it will make you feel a little too relax, resulting being tired. Try board games or any active and mind-using games, it works!
- Try staying up with a friend and have you keep each other awake.
Warnings
- Going 3 days with no sleep is very unhealthy. Do this sparingly.
- Consuming too much soda, coffee, or candy is bad for your health.
- Keep in mind that not all sweet products contain sugar. Many mass-produced liquids will use replacement sweeteners such as high fructose corn syrup. Similarly, not all energy drinks contain caffeine. Check the labels to make sure you are consuming what you think you are.
- If avoidable, don't try to stay awake as your body will not function correctly.
- Be careful while driving as your reflexes will not be as quick.
Things You'll Need
- Anything that will keep you awake. Caffeine can be found in drinks, such as energy drinks, soda, and coffee, and in pills.
