How to Get out of Bed at Night

Jul 29, 2009 06:33 PM

Tired? Already laying in bed but realize you forgot something? Need to do it to have a worry-free sleep?

Consider if the reason for getting up can wait

If you really are tired, write it down and wait until morning to do it.

Get out of bed and do it as fast as possible

Whether it be brushing your teeth, cleaning up a little, or any other things you forgot earlier, the faster you complete the task the faster you can go to sleep. Try not to turn on any bright lights, as that can hurt your eyes and they will take a while to adjust.

Wrap yourself if you're cold.

Turn off the lights, go back in bed and close your eyes

Now that you've finally done it, you can catch up on some sleep. Aren't you happy you did it now instead of putting it off or forgetting about it?

Tips

  • Just do it. You will be glad you did.
  • Be sensitive to others who are trying to sleep.
  • Get up slowly. Getting up too quickly will make you dizzy and uncoordinated for a few seconds.

Warnings

  • Sometimes it can be difficult to go back to sleep after you get up.
  • If you are delaying going to the bathroom, your bladder will not let up and you will have restless dreams and broken sleep; be done with it by going to the bathroom and then settling back in for undisturbed sleep for the remainder of the night. Sleep tight!
