Even if it is a dream, sometimes dreams can actually hurt. If somebody is about to hurt you, you can still escape.
Realize that this couldn't really happen to you. If someone is chasing you, has a sword from the Lord of the Rings, and you are in a completely different country, then it has to be a dream.
Imagine you have a weapon, and have every right to chop up something that is posing a threat.
Think about the opposite of what you want to happen. In dreams, sometimes the opposite will happen, and you will be able to get away. Do not shout "Yahoo! Haha! I escaped the bad guy!" because this is when the opposite will happen again.
In the real world, learn karate or tae-kwon-do, or pretend to earthbend or waterbend (watch Avatar: The Last Airbender for tips on this). You may end up earthbending the guy into another world.
Try to run, even if you can't.
Shout something stupid, like, "Darmhen Melblifiggle" They will usually stop dead in their tracks because of this, or they will answer the question. This gives you a chance to laugh madly and run away.
Tips
- Learn random words in different, little-used languages. You may find these helpful to shout out in your dream, because, then there may be somebody (in rare cases) nearby who knows what you are saying.
- Learn basic survival skills. Check out the self-defense and home security categories of wikihow. You can use this in your dreams.
- If you are lucid, you can make the thing or person disappear and have a good time.
Warnings
- This may cause you wake up, forget you woke up, then scream random words! This can be very embarrasing.
